|
| A late
evening flight starts us on our way to
Honolulu and then on to Canada to our first destination, Vancouver. Because of our late departure, we will arrive
in Vancouver tomorrow morning. |

Day Two
|
Vancouver - City Tour
|
Once we
arrive in Vancouver, we’ll have a tour of the
city. Among the sights we’ll see are Chinatown,
historic Gastown, Stanley Park with its
totem poles, and
Granville Island and Public Market.
Our hotel
here for the next two nights is the Blue
Horizon (or similar).

Day Three
|
VANCOUVER – KELOWNA |
After Breakfast,
we head eastward this
morning to the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia’s wine and
orchard
district. As a result, we’ll be sure to
stop at a fruit stand. We’ll also
see
if we can visit a winery and taste some of their wine as well. We’re here at the right time of year so it
would be a shame if the didn’t visit some of these places.
The
Canadian Rockies are ahead and await our
arrival. Our hotel for the night is the Accent(or
similar).

Day Four
|
KELOWNA –
BANFF |
Just as
soon as we
have our Breakfast,
we leave
the province of British
Columbia to enter
the province of Alberta
by way of Rogers
Pass. The
Canadian Rockies are, for the most part, within the Canadian province
of Alberta. One of two sights of interest today will be the Spiral
Tunnels. The
Tunnels were created to reduce the sharp grade
the trains had to climb. As a result, it
is a sight to see a train enter one end of the tunnel and then see it
emerge
from the other end of the tunnel at the same time.
The other sight of interest is the emerald
color of Lake
Louise. The lake
gets its color from the melting waters from
the glaciers above the lake. With the
surrounding mountains covered with snow and the glaciers, the sight of
the lake
is fantastic.
We’ll
continue on
to the town of Banff
where
we’ll spend the night at
the Banff
Inn(or similar).

| August 7 (Fri) |
Day Five
|
BANFF
– CITY TOUR |
After Breakfast,
it’s time to move on. But
first, we’ll have a tour of the city
which, on occasion, has some of the wild moose in the area visiting the
town
and enjoying some of the flowers in residents’ yards.
Remember that the city is within the
boundaries of the Banff National Park.
We’ll also have a ride on the Sulphur
Mountain Gondola that
will give us a fantastic panoramic view of the surrounding area. Our hotel for the night will be The
Crossing(or similar).

|
Day Six
|
BANFF
- JASPAR |
Don’t miss Breakfast before we
continue our
tour northward. Our destination today is
the Columbia Icefields and our sno-coach ride on the Athabasca
Glacier. We’ll continue on to Jaspar
where we tour the area before we go on to our
hotel for the night, Amethyst
Lodge(or similar).

|
Day Seven
|
JASPAR -
KAMLOOPS |
We’ve an
early start this morning as we board the Rocky Mountaineer
train to Kamloops. We’ll ride aboard a bi-level Goldleaf
Dome Coach that features
panoramic views from full-length dome
windows. Gourmet
Breakfast and Lunch selections will be served in
the lower-level dining room.

Our journey today aboard the train takes us
back into British Columbia
from Alberta and leaves the Canadian
Rockies behind us. Relax in your seats

tonight.

Day Nine
|
VANCOUVER – VICTORIA
|
| A full day
of touring today. Have your
Breakfast at the hotel before we leave. Our
day starts early as we catch the ferry to go to Vancouver Island to see
Victoria. The
highlight of our visit to Victoria is
the beautiful Butchart Gardens. The
gardens are spread over some fifty-five acres.
A former quarry site, you’ll find exotic
flowers and trees and the sweet
smell of flowers to delight your senses!
The tour will take you through the city
centre where you can see
the Fairmont Empress Hotel and marvel
at the architectural splendor of the Parliament buildings.
Victoria, as you know, is the capital of
British Columbia. Later in the
afternoon, we’ll catch the ferry back to Vancouver and return to our
hotel.
Remember, the ferry will take one hour and 35 minutes in either
direction, but
they do have a cafeteria onboard so you can purchase something to eat.

|
| Our
return flight to Honolulu departs this evening so there is no need to
rise
early. Have a leisurely breakfast (on
own) this morning. We’ll leave for the
airport this afternoon. Because our
flight leaves in the evening, it arrives too late for us to return to
Hilo. We will spend the night in
Honolulu. Our
hotel for the night will be the BW
Plaza Inn (or similar).
